π Welcome to the first update from angelamurrell.com. Did you know I just relaunched it? (See what it used to look like?)
Around a year ago I decided I wanted to create a digital catalog of my thoughts across so many different topics: technology, theories, design, recipes, poetry, and stories.
Though there are a lot of topics, you won’t find my writing arranged by date. It is meant to be explored. Read what you came for; explore what you didn’t.
So, if you like reading, enjoy a story about dogs.
Iβve kicked things off with a story close to my heart: The role my dogs have played in my lifeβs bigger moments (like building a startup and getting it acquired in 2020 in the middle of a pandemic!). Itβs a reflection on companionship and the support we often take for granted.

In March, I also launched Vertico Labs with my business partner. Itβs a space where we dig deep into product and technology. Iβve been busy writing about topics like the practical impacts of generative AI and strategies for long-lasting product features. To view and support my writing see these articles as well as our newsletter The Pipette.

Monthly Noodles β Ideas I am noodling on
I’m probably talking to people about these things in real life. They make up the current content of what “I’m going on about”.

- Thought # 1 Because we are all groomed to become w2 employees, we tend to only be given βtasksβ and seek approval for our performance. This is definitely one type of work that we can do and it comes with a lot of security and focus for the mind. However, how can we better prepare ourselves for βmacroβ thinking β the kind of thinking where you come up with big ideas, brainstorm, and spend hours to figure out vision, a mission, values, purpose, a life goal, etc? It seems like all the tasks bubble up to those kind of ideas but no one teaches you or prepares you for the journey of macro thinking.
What if we had more dialogue around that?
- Thought # 2 I’ve been making a never list β stuff I never do or rarely consider doing. How I wound up doing that is a story for another time. However, the never list is also something I would never do. What is so surprising about a never list? I find that we frequently lament over the impossibility of things, acting as though we have tried everything, but there’s this actual list of things that have not been attempted and we’re in denial of those things. An example item from my never list? “Leave your phone on the dresser before sleeping”. Before last week I had never done this. I’ve only done it once since.
What would be on your never list?
